Cookie Notice
This website sets no cookies.
It stores one thing on your device: your answer to the cookie banner, so we do not ask you again on every page. Nothing else is stored, nothing is shared, and nothing tracks you.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website puts on your computer or phone, usually so it can recognise your device next time. They are also how most sites track what visitors do, both on the site and across the wider internet.
2. What this site actually stores
One item, kept in your browser's local storage rather than as a cookie:
| Name | Type | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
skillcare-cookie-consent |
Local storage — strictly necessary | Remembers whether you accepted or declined, so the banner stops appearing on every page. | Until you clear your browser data |
It holds one short value recording your choice. It contains nothing about you, it is never sent to us or to anyone else, and it stays on your own device.
3. What we do not use
We think it is worth being specific, because most cookie notices are long precisely because the site is doing a lot. This one is short because ours is not.
- No analytics. We do not use Google Analytics or any other measurement tool. We cannot see which pages you visited.
- No advertising or targeting cookies. Nothing on this site feeds advertising anywhere.
- No social media tracking pixels.
- We set no third-party cookies ourselves. See the section below for the two pieces of content we embed from other organisations.
4. Content from other websites
Two things on this site are served by other organisations. We include both deliberately, and we would rather tell you about them than let you find them in a browser inspector.
- Our CQC rating. The About and Commitments pages display our inspection rating using the official widget provided by the Care Quality Commission, loaded from cqc.org.uk. We use the live widget rather than a picture so that it always shows our current rating — we cannot edit what it says, which is rather the point. CQC may set cookies or record the request when it loads.
- Google Maps. Two pages embed a map so you can see our coverage area. Google may set cookies through that embedded map.
In both cases that happens under the other organisation's terms rather than ours, and we have no access to anything they collect. If you would rather not load them, blocking third-party content in your browser will prevent both; the rest of the site will work normally, and the rating is also available as plain text with a link to the full report.
Links to other organisations, such as the NHS or the Care Quality Commission, take you to sites with their own cookie policies.
5. Controlling what is stored
You can clear the stored preference at any time by clearing site data for this website in your browser settings. The banner will simply ask again next time.
Every browser lets you block or delete cookies and site data. Blocking storage for this site will not stop it working — you will just see the cookie banner on each visit.
6. If this changes
If we ever add analytics or anything else that stores information on your device, we will update this notice, say exactly what it does, and ask for your consent before it runs. We will not add tracking quietly.
