Neurological Disorders

What are Neurological Disorders?

Neurological disorders are medical conditions that affect the nervous system, which includes the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. These disorders can result from genetic, environmental, or other unknown factors, leading to a wide range of symptoms depending on the specific condition and the areas of the nervous system affected. Neurological disorders can impact movement, cognition, sensation, and overall quality of life.

Common Types of Neurological Disorders

Alzheimer’s Disease

A progressive disorder that causes brain cells to degenerate and die, leading to memory loss and cognitive decline.

Parkinson’s Disease

A progressive nervous system disorder affecting movement, often including tremors, stiffness, and difficulty with balance and coordination.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

An autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks the protective covering of nerves, causing communication problems between the brain and the rest of the body.

Epilepsy

A disorder characterized by recurrent, unprovoked seizures due to abnormal electrical activity in the brain.

Stroke

This occurs when the blood supply to part of the brain is interrupted or reduced, preventing brain tissue from getting oxygen and nutrients. With specialised training, our committed team of carers are prepared to support the health and wellness of people with neurological problems. Our all-inclusive care services cover everything from helping with daily mobility inside the home to offering more advanced assistance like ventilation and feeding assistance. We are aware that every person has different needs, particularly when it comes to treating neurological disorders, regardless of your preference for day visits or continuous or round-the-clock live-in care.
